Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda - meet and greet
Arrival at the airport, meet and greet by our representative immediately after disembarking the plane. After migration check-in, you will be on your way to the arrival point where you will meet the driver-guide and then be transferred to the hotel where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Kigali exploitation and historical tour and evening transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Start your day with a guided city tour of Kigali, exploring the main historical and cultural sites. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a poignant tribute to Rwanda's history, followed by a drive through the city's vibrant neighborhoods and landmarks, including the Kandt House Museum and other historical sites. Learn about Rwanda from the pre-colonial, colonial, post-colonial and genocide eras. Visit the genocide memorial in Kigali, where over 250,000 victims of the genocide were buried in mass graves. Visit the “Campaign against Genocide” museum against the genocide.
End the day at Question Coffee to taste the pure Rwandan coffee. Have lunch at a local restaurant before driving to Volcanoes National Park.
Upon arrival, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of Dian Fossey, where you will learn more about the gorillas and their conservation in Volcanoes, which was started by primatologist Dian Fossey. Overnight stay in Volcanoes
In the evening, you drive to the lodge and spend the evening acclimatizing to the cold weather in the Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge (4 stars) or the Sambora Ecolodge (5 stars).
Day 3: Gorilla trekking in the wilderness - departure
After breakfast, you will go to the park offices where you will be assigned a gorilla family in groups of 8 and a gorilla tracking guide.
After a briefing on gorillas in general, your assigned gorilla family and the appropriate safety precautions, you will drive to the starting point of the trek where the exciting adventure begins.
Please allow between 2 and 8 hours walking on steep, sometimes muddy terrain and in the rain, which can be strenuous and requires a certain (average) level of fitness. However, the thrill of encountering a giant mountain gorilla silverback makes up for all the effort! After this tour, you will be taken to the airport for your return flight.
